Solid-State Electrolyte with Graded Composition for High-Energy Batteries
A solid-state battery electrolyte featuring a graded composition that transitions from a sulfide-based material at the anode interface to an oxide-based material at the cathode interface. This gradient approach resolves the fundamental incompatibility between high-energy cathodes and lithium metal anodes by providing chemically stable interfaces at both electrodes simultaneously. The graded electrolyte is fabricated using a co-sintering process that creates a continuous ionic pathway while maintaining mechanical integrity. The design achieves ionic conductivity of 1 mS/cm at room temperature while suppressing lithium dendrite growth through mechanical reinforcement at the anode interface.
